Here's to hoping that there'll be PotC4!!

I couldn't really care less if I never see Will and Elizabeth again; they had their (so-so) happy ending so let's leave them there. What I want is more Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow!!!

Obviously I watched Pirates of the Caribean 3: At World's End. It had so many muddled dialogues in it that I had to watch it twice to understand what some of the characters were saying, but in general I absolutely LOVED every minute of my 1:30 to 7pm stay inside that crowded theater (on opening day no less!) especially when, after several scenes and minutes into the movie, they finally showed Captain Jack! Several versions of him in various state of (un)dress too ^_____^

It was just so fun to watch (coz I'm a big fan of the first two movies, if you aren't you'll probably be confused and bored as hell).

Props to the cast and crew for probably one the most chaotic wedding ceremonies in movie history. But my most favorite scene has got to be when Jack was standing on the mast of the Black Pearl as it was being carried out to sea by those crabs. Reminiscent of the first movie when he was shown at the start atop that sinking tugboat, but this time it's the Black Pearl he was standing on. Nevermind that it's not on water and he's at Jones' Locker. He's on the Black Pearl! The Pearl!!! He got through hell itself (although I dunno about the state of his sanity, but then Jack's never been completely on the sane side to begin with) coz the Pearl was with him. He couldn't sail it, sure, but at least his beloved ship was there.

Calypso was a total disappointment though, you'd think a goddess would've done something 'more'. So's Chow Yun Fat's character (whose name I can never remember aside from it starting with an S), just when he gets interesting he up and...*spoiler* -__-0

Love the rivalry between Sparrow and Barbossa; you couldn't even call it friendly rivalry coz those two would be at each other's throats or at gun/sword point had they not been such staunch followers of the Pirate Code ^_^0 Speaking of the Code, wasn't Keith Richards totally into his role?! Hahahaa!!!

*sigh* I really want a Pirates 4 with Johnny Depp and no one else. To think he wasn't the first choice for Jack Sparrow. I shudder to think how Jim Carrey, Christopher Walken, or Michael Keaton would've portrayed the character had they been cast into this role. I don't even wanna think about Speilberg's choice between Bill Murray, Steve Martin or Robin Williams for the role had he been the director @_@

Okay, I'm just rambling on now. Better stop and go back to reviewing since it's almost June -- time for the NLE!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh T_T

Movies!

Errr... watched these last Friday with mom coz there was an NPC brownout from 7am to 7pm here in Apalit that drove us to the mall to escape the heat at home; but I kinda plumb forgot to blog about them heheh ^^0

Shrek 3

Mom slept through the first half. It was boring, she said and she was dead on correct. The jokes just weren't funny enough and were too predictable. Had a teary moment when Arthur did that monologue about living well despite what people call you and all, but as far as emotions go that was all there was to it. There were a few 'awww' moments, with Pus doing that thing with his eyes (that I keep imagining Antonio Banderas actually trying to do while dubbing), but really it was rather formula-ic and unoriginal. So Shrek had a problem about becoming a father, big deal. What newly married man wouldn't? He had a thing about becoming the next king, jeez... who wouldn't?! They should end it with this movie, quit making full-length films and just do episodic daily animations for tv or something if the producers wanna keep at making more Shrek stories. I mean, just about every one in the film had found their happily ever after (except Charming), so I hope they end it with that.

Pan's Labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno)

Horrible. Wonderful. Terrifying. Beautiful. Mom didn't want to watch this coz she thought it was another children's fairy tale story (she ended up not liking Shrek 3 though she was the one who insisted we watch it in the first place since she liked the trailer ^^0) and it was, but Pan's Labyrinth was so much more than just a fairy tale. I need not expound on it since it is an award-winning film and one of the best films in 2006. Why it was just shown now at our local theater is beyond me. Oh wait, maybe it's coz it's subtitled. I could count the number of people inside the theater with us on one hand. There were just so few. Most of them were watching Shrek 3 or Spider-man 3. *sigh* A guy at the back was snoring and a couple sitting at the other side of the snoring idiot were necking. Hay nako... how come some people don't realize how good a story actually is just coz it's not in a language they understood? The subtitled are there, but no... no one wants to read. Even my mom, at first, was dismayed when she saw that it was subbed. I was curiously delighted. I like hearing languages I'm not too familiar with. Helps me learn new vocabulary ^_^

Spider-man 3

Okay, we didn't exactly watch it on the same day but i haven't said my piece about it yet so here goes... Peter Parker was a jerk the entire movie. Hahahah!!! Okay. That said, whoever heard of NYC 'loving' Spider-man?! Oh wait, I remember ranting about this to Guidz so better not repeat myself. Kinda sad though that they killed off Harry. Wonder if there'll be a 4th installment? Hope not.

Anyways, I browsed RottenTomatoes.com's list of "Comix Worst to Best: Countdown to the Best Reviewed Comic Book Movie of All-Time" and realized I watched 45 of the 94 movies in their list. Hmmm... just 45 huh? Although that's a lot.

Just in case may mapadpad dito na interesado (for cosplayers &/or photographers)

Filcosplay (http://www.fil. cosplay.ph) is inviting cosplayers and
photographers alike to contribute photos for the exhibit to show your
artistic talents and national pride and awareness. The idea is to have
familiar, famous or mainstream anime/manga cosplayers within the
setting of Filipino icons, symbols and elements, whether it be social
awareness, pop-culture, organizations, politics, and everyday life in
general.

Each photo team can contribute a maximum of 5 pictures. Only 20
pictures will be accepted.

Pictures must be 8R size or 8x11 inches. Minimal photomanipulation is
allowed. Can be colored, black and white or sepia.

This is not a contest. This is instead an opportunity to show everyone
how much cosplay has been integrated into our culture, and to strut
your creative juices into a gallery you can call your own.

Guidelines below as follows:

1) Photo topic must comply to the theme which is Cosplay Culture:
Filipino Flavor. Theme is composed of the following:

- Cosplayers can wear any anime or manga costume.
- Setting must be a location within the Philippines.
- Situation must be distinctly Filipino in nature, using icons and
landmarks, whether situational, political or socio-cultural.
- It is encouraged that the characters cosplayers are portraying
should look natural in their environments, or at least similar to
their actual situation or location.
- Photographs can be either a form of fashion shot, or to convey a
story (although the latter is more encouraged, because we rarely see
these types of photos).

2) Photos must be of 8R size or 8x11 inches no frames.

3) Maximum of 5 photos must be submitted per group. Each photo should
have the following details:

> Title
> Location
> technical camera details (optional)
> Photo description - not more than 50 words (optional)

4) Each cosplay group (composed of cosplayers and their
photographer/ s) should submit their names, group name and synopsis of
their work, explaining why they chose the cosplay and location, etc.
They can also include a short synopsis about their group as well.
Synopsis must not exceed 300 words, in microsoft word format, to be
submitted at filcosplay@gmail. com in this form:

> Name of Group (short synopsis of group - optional)
> List of names of people involved in shoot
> Synopsis/Photo particulars

5) Submission is first come first serve basis, but Filcosplay has the
right to reject works that are not within the context, quality and
theme of the gallery.

------------ --------- ---

The gallery will be up for two days (June 16 and 17). A maximum of 5
volunteers are needed to watch over the gallery. Interested parties
can inquire at the forum (http://www.fil. cosplay.ph) or email at
filcosplay@gmail. com

Photos can be taken home by the respective owners provided they take
them at the end of the convention itself, and not before. Photos not
claimed can be either claimed at another time and place as agreed with
the gallery organizer, or donated freely for Filcosplay and Cosplay.ph.

------------ --------- ---

Filcosplay is planning to add a gallery on Cosplay.ph to further
continue to display the works, but it is still under planning stages
with the website's coders. Pls wait for further announcements on the
issue.

Among Won!!!

There are two parish priests in Pampanga that are well-known to have done extremely well in whichever community they serve, our town of Apalit's own Fr. Larry Sarmiento and Fr. Eddie Panlilio of Betis. Now there's only one left since Among Ed won the last elections. He's Pampanga's new governor.

I was one of those who voted for him though at first I had my own qualms about a priest running for office. A lot of others also had their doubts, but this man's track record really speaks for him in terms of community service. I think this article best says what I feel about him running... and winning. I only hope that he won't disappoint now that he won.

Manga Post

A few months back, my dad's friend's daughter who lives in Japan (I have no idea what her name is) did some house-cleaning and instead of dumping them decided to give me several manga hand-me-downs (tankoubons and weekly/monthly JUMP, Hana to Yume etc. magz) among which were three complete tankoubons/volumes of Ai Yazawa's works. They've mostly been collecting dust at my bookshelf, but I've been reading them on and off since then (usually when I'm en route to school I read one during the jeepney ride).

Anyways, I've yet to read "Marine Blue no Kaze ni Dakarete" and "Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai". I read "Gokinjo Monogatari" first and finished it some time ago, so when I looked it up on the net and found out that it had a sequel (of sorts) I immediately checked MangaTraders if they had "Paradise Kiss" which they thankfully did. I just finished reading it. I know it has an anime, but I'd really rather go with the manga.

I shouldn't have read the darned thing... volume 5 at least. It made me cry! My eyes (and heart) hurt so much right now that I don't have the will to review! And to think I just read the darn thing to give myself a little bit of break from reviewing.

It's just sooooooooo fricking sad, dammit! Why'd Yazawa end it like that!?!

In any case, my purpose for posting about this is not really to rant but more to recommend this uber nice continuation/epilogue fanfic by queen-isabell titled Beautiful Creatures for those who felt excruciatingly sad with the ending of ParaKiss.

Impulsive Buying

I just bought a moleskine sketchbook online from avalon.ph.

It's supposed to be:
Brand New & Sealed in Original Plastic
100 Plain Pages
5 x 8 1/4" (13x21cm)
Top Quality, Heavy Acid Free Paper
Expandable Inner Pocket
Attached Page Marker Ribbon
Elastic Secure Closure Cord
Market/Original Price: P1,200.00 up

Impulsive, too much? Maybe.

I'm not paying the original price. It's only 600 pesos (plus shipping fees) at avalon. I mean, 600+ pesos for one lousy sketchbook seems a bit too much if I consider all the starving children out there... *starts to feel guilty*

But then I've wanted to have this kind of sketchbook since forever!!! Been looking for a place to buy it but couldn't find any, especially since I didn't know what the hell it was called until Charles posted it in his LJ today. I've always always wanted to buy something like this so it isn't really impulsive of me to buy it like that, doncha think? I mean, it's not like I just bought it out of the blue without any reason and years of rationalization before doing so, right?

I'm soooooo excited! Can't wait till I get it in the mail!!! *dances around in glee*

I still feel slightly guilty though ^_^0

Don't read unless you have a strong stomach!!!

A recent visit to our local cemetery rendered me incapable of eating red meats and poultry... heck I even waver when I see a fish still with visible bones. I won't post a picture here (heck I wouldn't even dream of taking a pic of what I saw coz I wanna forget it ASAP!); suffice it to say that though I have no qualms about seeing a patient cut up, with blood gushing out, vital organs and bones on display, I definitely get nauseous about seeing... erm, a human body after about a year of decay. It’s the hair that I remember most, really; maybe because it’s the first thing I saw. Didn’t realize at first exactly what I was looking at, but then when what it was hit me I kinda froze and got a good look at everything. Gah-urk! Now I REALLY wanna get cremated when I croak.

You still with me? Hey, I did warn you, ne? ^^0

Tired...

Spent around 8 hours last Wednesday at the PRC just to apply for the Nursing Licensure Examination this coming June. Gawds above, the lines were horribly looooooooong so my feet ended up hurting like hell! Been too bugged out to post anything, and I don't really wanna rant any further about it so, minna, I beg you to just please pray for me when I take the board exam this June.

Anyways, here's a blogthing quiz you might wanna try:
